Thetford Mela 2025 – A Day of Culture, Community & Celebration!
The Sikh Motorcycle Club UK was proud to once again take part in this year’s incredible Thetford Mela, a fantastic celebration of Sikh and South Asian heritage, community, and diversity.
The day began with a respectful visit to the resting place of Maharaja Duleep Singh Ji and his family at Elveden Church, where we paid tribute to his lasting legacy and connection to Thetford.
The main event took place on the beautiful grounds of Thetford Grammar School, packed with colour, energy, and an amazing atmosphere. The Mela featured a wide range of information stalls, delicious food, emergency services including Police and Ambulance teams, a coin exhibition, and non-stop stage entertainment that brought the whole community together.
Crowds were treated to live performances by Heera Group, Bee2, and the energetic Jaggi Brothers Dhol Players. The stage also showcased traditional Giddha, Bhangra, and Punjabi folk dances, as well as an impressive Gatka performance celebrating Sikh martial heritage. One of the standout moments was the powerful performance by the Heritage Brass Band from India, which added a unique cultural touch to the celebrations. The show was hosted by Sunrise Radio Team, with coverage by Sikh Channel, Brit Punjabi, and Panjab TV, ensuring the event reached audiences far and wide.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Indi Sandhu and the Essex Cultural Diversity Project for inviting us once again and for organising such a meaningful and well-run event that continues to bring people of all backgrounds together.
It was a joy to connect with the community, share our passion for bikes and Sikhi, and celebrate heritage in such a positive environment. Until next year, Thetford!
