Guru Nanak Annual Sponsored Walk – October 2024
Members of the Sikh Motorcycle Club UK were honoured to take part in the Guru Nanak Annual Sponsored Walk 2024 on Sunday, 13th October. Over 80 participants, including children and adults, walked from Nottingham to Derby to raise funds for BBC Children in Need and the Nottingham Khalsa Punjabi School.
The event began with an Ardass (prayer), setting the tone for a day filled with community spirit and enthusiasm. It was heartening to see so many young children actively participating in the walk. Along the route, the walkers were treated to snacks, as well as hot and cold drinks, to keep them energised. The walk concluded at Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji Gurdwara in Derby, where everyone enjoyed a delicious chips & beans langar (community meal).
A special thanks to all who participated, donated, and supported the event. Particular appreciation goes to:
- Nottingham Forest Community Trust for providing minibus seva.
- Siri Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara, Church Street, Nottingham, for hosting the starting point.
- SuRano for generously providing food for all the walkers.
- Guru Arjan Dev Ji Gurdwara Derby for hosting the finish and serving the much-loved chips & beans langar.
- Trent Barton Buses for offering seva by transporting all the walkers back to Nottingham.
The presence of the Sikh Motorcycle Club UK added a special touch to the event. The children were thrilled to see the bikes and eagerly posed for countless photos. Their excitement and joy were infectious, creating a vibrant and memorable atmosphere for all involved.
We’re already looking forward to next year’s event and hope to see even more participants join us in this inspiring journey.
